Educational Facilities

In 1894 the first Viborg School District, known then as Independent School District No. 4, was created.  The first building was built on the same ground as the building today.
A second, two-story building was built in 1903. In 1918, a three-story building was constructed, accompanied by an auditorium in 1955, and an addition to join the two structures and create more office and classroom space was built in 1968.
In 2001, a new building was constructed around the base of the original 1918 building. An elementary wing runs along the street, and the high school wing expands behind it to the south. The 1955 auditorium and 1918 school building were torn down, a new gymnasium being built where the auditorium stood and a paved playground extending over the foundation of the old building.
The Viborg School District currently serves approximately 280 students K-12 and offers an excellent range of learning opportunities.
