Work Day - Help Wanted
The DHA needs volunteer help for its work day next Saturday, December 11, starting at 9 a.m. Bring gloves and a modicum of muscle and ambition. Men and women. Teenagers with parents' permission. Need to lift, carry, push and pull. Main floor and basement. See what is not seen in a visit to the display area! Organize and store stuff. This will permit power washing of the walls with shop vacuums keeping the water from spreading.

DHA Meeting
The first December 2004 meeting was at Kountry Kookin' Cafe December 1. Present were: Melanie Parsons, Toots Peterson, Lester Lauritzen and Grant Petersen, Sr., directors. Also Palmer and Marge Peterson and Richard Skola.
Plans for the December 11 work day was a major topic. Lunch will be provided at noon.
The Lions Club has been invited to again hold meetings in the museum. Other groups wishing to use the meeting area are welcome to do so. Call Melanie Parsons at 326-5358.
It is necessary to get the country school weatherized to preserve it, in case funds become available to move it to the museum area.
Accessions
The Rube's Jewelry and Watch Making display recently set up in the"south" room is a recent attraction. Another new addition is a motorized cream separator from Charles Olson. Three more (for a total of five) 1-year Viborg only telephone directories were given by Mrs. Sherree Schmiedt, who has a significant private museum in Centerville, with viewing by appointment.
Toots Peterson is making more show cases available. The November 25 DHA News gives prices of membership and of renting cases in the museum for displaying individual and family collections.
Mange Tak
For the items listed above. For those contributions that have come in, or are promised. To the Charles Olson family for its day-after-Thanksgiving four-generation visit to the museum. And to the lady that called Wednesday eve, December 1 with information on sources of fuel oil furnaces, should the DHA wish to obtain a spare or replacement unit.
People Who Slipped Through The Cracks
Several months ago, DHA News included some recollections of Burton (Bud) Nelson. Included among these was a request for information on an artist that had located a block east of the present Amoco Station and the theatre. Recently, Opal (Christensen) Larsen (VHS 42) provided DHA News with a bit of such information. The artist's name was Andrew Lang. He was both a painter and photographer. His studio was east of the alley (N-S) in the 100 North block, east of Main Street. The studio was north of the present city shop building.
Mrs. Larsen said that she and other children in the neighborhood, lacking much to do, enjoyed being in Mr. Lang's studio and watching him paint. He also lived in the studio building. (LRL quarry: Did anyone catch the artistic bug from Mr. Lang?)
Mrs. Larsen provided DHA News with a diagram, showing Mr. Lang's studio, in relation to homes and the city shop. The map has been reduced and prepared for newspaper use.
(LRL note: Does anyone have any more information about Mr. Lang? Or any of his art or photography? Art may be singed in some way; photos may be marked something "Lang" or "Lang Photography.")
Another artist DHA would like more work of, and information about, is Earl ? Holm. Mr. Holm was reportedly a fast and prolific artist with crayons. There are two of his scenes on display in the DHA museum. Any photos of these gentlemen?
Two more people who have mostly "slipped through the cracks" without leaving much record for posterity.
